There are many types of golf balls available in the market today. A number of elements in the manufacture and design of golf balls must be borne in mind whilst purchasing them. However, your final choice, the type of ball you play best with, is down to personal preference. The distinction between different balls is mainly due to compression or ball cover. Balata, litium and Surlyn covers are popular ones that allow wound balls to be played by those looking for both distance and high spin.
A balata-covered ball is essentially a three-piece ball: a liquid-filled core wound with rubber and covered with balata. Balata is simply a soft substance, which leads to cuts and nicks. This "softness" is said to provide "better playability" which is to say that the golfer can "shape" his/her shot (fade/draw), and get more "action" (backspin) on the greens. These are usually more costly and have a short life.
A surlyn-covered ball is typically a two-piece ball having a solid core with the surlyn cover. Surlyn is an artificial "uncuttable" substance, which is designed to eliminate the cuts and nicks. The Surlyn ball is much harder as compared to the Balata one. The drawbacks of the harder ball are that golfers find it more difficult to "shape" their shot (fade/draw), and get "action" (backspin) on the greens.
Albeit there isn't any relation between the compression of a golf ball and the distance over which it travels, the compression of a ball usually affects how the ball feels when hit. Most ball compressions are generally rated between 80 and 100. The higher the compression, the harder the ball feels when you hit it. A 100-compression ball has a much more "solid" feel when hit than the one with 80-compression. The most commonly used compression ball is 90. However, it is down to personal preference as to what a golfer feels most comfortable with.

Golf Bags Of All Types

By Curt Smith
Golf bags come in all shapes, sizes, looks and purposes. Some are lightweight carry bags; others are huge, custom bags that weigh a ton and take up your entire trunk of your car.
If you're an avid golfer, you've been through a few golf bags in your lifetime. I'll bet on the average of a new one every two years. For some of you, every year! Golf bag technology is getting better and better. The bags are getting lighter, but at the same time, able to hold more accessories and still protect your clubs.
It's a heated battle for top position. With companies like Nike (and their billions of dollars), Titleist and Callaway, it's tough for the smaller companies to compete. But us golfers have strong loyalties to our golf brands don't we.
How many of you still have a Ping carry bag? I had several, then moved onto another brand and style. Some golfers keep the brands the same for everything they've got. So if it's Callaway clubs, it's Callaway golf bag, hat, shirts and even golf balls.
Also, depending on your style of golf (walking or cart) you'll have different types of bags. There are stand bags, carry bags, cart golf bags, pull cart bags, full on staff bags, and many other types.
It can be a bit overwhelming to decide on what golf bag you'll choose, so you may want to seek out golf bag advice from your local pro or by reading reviews on the web.
With the cost being anywhere from $100 up to several hundred, you want to make sure you are making the right decision. You'll be very connected to this bag if you play and practice a couple times a week!

Cheap Golf Clubs
By Jim Banks
Golf isn’t a game for the wealthy anymore, that leaves many of us looking for cheap golf clubs. Public places like the Pebble Beach G. course while not one of the cheap golf clubs is a public golf course. Today unlike the usual practices in the past many courses will allow non membership access provided though that the green fee is played.
While it is a refreshing though, the rate to play on this public golf course is staggering expensive, it cost $425 plus $25 cart fee to play. While you do you best to scrape enough to play at Pebble Beach G. Links (BTW, Pebble Beach is named the most picturesque golf course in Western United States), you should also scrape when it comes to buying golf equipment for your use. Always use cheap golf clubs if you can.
Most common misinformation is this, items like cheap golf clubs, are poor quality. That is purely hypothetical and wrong. Cheap doesn’t have to sacrifice quality, there are shops that sell cheap golf clubs at really rock bottom prices. These clubs are first rate, but went out of production quickly as more favorable versions became available. Some of them are 2nd hand top quality golf clubs but are still in excellent condition. Other reputable golf club manufacturers are willing to take in trade your cheap golf clubs or even sell trade-ins for a bargain price. Cheap golf clubs don’t always correlate to inferior quality as long as you have the presence of mind to check every purchase. Here are some sites that offer top quality cheap golf clubs.
Callaway Golf
If you know Callaway, then you should know that Callaway is willing to take trade ins or trade up for used golf clubs. Drivers, woods and hybrids, iron sets, wedges, putters, even accessories are available for trade in. Yes, cheap golf clubs can be found on Callaway.
West Coast Golf Online
West Coast Golf Online has a selection of cheap golf clubs ranging from $30 - $200! Not only clubs, Golf accessories and apparel can also be purchased for less. You just have to check out the deals, you won’t believe half the prices if you do browse their site. A $49.99 Tour V81 Belly Putter anyone?
Even online bidding sites like eBay www.eBay.com and www.inet-site.com have top quality cheap golf clubs on auction. A bit of surfing time, 30 minutes at most and you will have a selection that you will find rather neat. Start with any of the sites mentioned above. You can’t strike a poor bargain with them. They’re as willing to sell as you are willing to buy a set of cheap golf clubs.
